Differential Diagnosis
The differential diagnosis of subacute or intermittent proptosis includes:

- Orbital vasculitis: polyarteritis nodosa, Wegener's granulomatosis, temporal arteritis
- Granulomatous disease: sarcoidosis
- Orbital pseudotumor
- Graves' orbitopathy
- Vascular abnormalities: carotid-cavernous sinus fistula, varix
- Orbital tumors: primary, secondary, metastatic
